Iceland is the most prosperous and safe country in the world. The crime rate in the country is so low that the police do not carry weapons and there is no army at all. Here the thermal water runs from the tap, the heat of the geysers is used for heating the houses, and local people still believe in trolls. It is a country of a lot of geysers, hundreds of volcanoes and thousands of waterfalls. The capital is Reykjavik is considered to be the birthplace of the craziest night clubs and parties. Perhaps this fact contributed to the appearance of singers Bjork, Johanna and the band Sigur Ros. In Iceland scenes of Hollywood movies are shot and later their actors come here to relax with their families. Iceland is fascinating.

Matur og Drykkur Restaurant

Matur og Drykkur is a restaurant, translated from Icelandic as “Food and Drink”. It is located on the territory of the former salt plant. The owners studied the manuscripts with the ancient Icelandic recipes and reinterpreted them in a modern way. Thanks to the unusual dishes, in 2017 the restaurant was included in the Michelin Guide.

It includes: halibut soup with mussels, raisins and apple sauce, smoked haddock with boiled potatoes, horse meat steak with baked beetroot and pickled strawberries, lamb meatballs with rhubarb jam, cod head cooked in chicken broth with blueberries. Horse meat tartar will be served on the sword, and for dessert — ice cream from the traditional Icelandic thick yogurt skir with blueberry sorbet, granola and white chocolate.

Blue Lagoon

Blue lagoon is perhaps the most famous thermal spa in the world. The cavity, composed of frozen magma, is filled with turquoise water from a nearby power station. Boiling water in underground tanks is pumped to the station and goes through the technical cycle of electricity generation. After cleaning and cooling to 40 °C, water enters the natural pool.

The water contains quartz, silicon, sea salt and blue-green algae. No bacteria can survive in such conditions, this ensures the purity of the water, which is useful for the skin. According to legend, the healing properties of water discovered a power plant worker. Swimming in the lake, he got rid of psoriasis within a few months.

Langjokull Glacier

Langjokull is the second largest glacier in Iceland after Vatnayöküdl. Langjokull in translation from Icelandic is a “long glacier”. Its area is equal to the territory of Singapore. Two volcanic systems, Western and Eastern, are hidden under the ice here. Underground volcanoes, which once erupted under a layer of melting ice, created a unique natural landscape. This area is relatively calm — only 32 eruptions in 10 thousand years. In 2015, Jay Z and Beyoncé rode snowmobiles here. So they celebrated the 45th anniversary of Jay Z. And in the winter of 2017 Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend were seen here.

As soon as you reach the glacier, you will be given a jumpsuit, gloves, a helmet and you will be instructed.

The National Park Thingvellir

The National Park, listed in 2004 in the World Heritage list of UNESCO. The first parliament in the world was founded here in 930. Residents of Iceland gathered in the valley for the adoption of laws and court. The center of events was the Rock of the Law, and the most influential man — the speaker. Turning to the rock, his voice reflected from it and was heard by all present. After independence in 1944, in the valley of Thingvellir the Republic of Iceland was declared and its first president was elected.

Also, in this place Eurasian and North American tectonic plates diverge. If you took a photo where you keep from falling the Pisa tower, here you definitely need to capture how one of your feet is in Europe, and the other — in America.

Lake Kerid

Kerid is a lake with water of bright aquamarine color, formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. Because of the special acoustics, the singer Bjork twice performed concerts here, standing on a raft in the center of the pond.

You will be delivered to the bank of the River Hvitau and you will be given wetsuits, vests and gloves. All in order to rush on a jet boat at a speed of 100 km/h along the canyon. Thresholds, sharp turns and jumps — believe me, it's breathtaking. After that you can eat properly. For you will be prepared a barbecue and you can try several varieties of local beer. In the evening, there is nowhere to rush — get warm in the sauna or the thermal pool of the Secret Lagoon. Dinner will be waiting at the hotel restaurant.

Races on a jet boat

A walk on the jet boat passes in the canyon of the Gullfoss Waterfall on the River Hvitau. After arriving at the starting point, participants are instructed and receive equipment: waterproof suits, gloves, helmets and life jackets. After that the group gets on the bus and reaches the location of the boat. During the race, the boat rushes along the canyon through the thresholds past the basalt rocks at a speed of up to 100 km/h. If you want, you can stop and swim in the river — the water temperature does not exceed 4 °C. After the walk, the instructors will arrange a barbecue-lunch and tasting of local beer. While roasting the meat, you can wash in the shower and warm up in the sauna.

The descent into the crater of a sleeping volcano Thrihnukagigur

The descent into the crater of a sleeping volcano Thrihnukagigur is carried out in an open elevator on the ropes. The last time it erupted 4,000 years ago. The entrance to the crater is a hole in the form of a funnel 4 × 4 meters wide and resembles the shape of a bottle. Different colors and size of the walls make the beauty of the crater. Its bottom can be compared with a football field, and the height allows you to hold the Statue of Liberty in full size. Usually the crater after the eruption is closed with cold, hard lava. Thrihnukagigur is a rare exception. Magma disappeared from the cell. It is believed that it hardened on the walls or went back to the depths of the Earth.

Transfer to the crater by car is impossible due to lack of road. From the parking lot, you should walk 3 km along the lava field. At the place, equipment is given to the group: helmet and safety belts.

Adventures reports

We talk about the organization of travel and projects without embellishment. We share our impressions about the region, cuisine, hotels and contractors. Texts are accompanied by personal photos and videos. All materials are published only with the consent of the customer.

Winter 2019 — remove the unnecessary!
For a month we had to organize an extreme Olympiad for programmers, a test drive of Cordiant tires and a family adventure in the taiga. I won't tell about each project separately, as I usually do all the applications of this season intersected and followed one after another. These three events are in one report.
Lake Baikal
Summer is a small life
During the festive evening in honor of the birthday, we should have a concert of a famous artist on the shore of Lake Baikal. In the report, we conducted a step-by-step review of the event, starting with the signing a contract with the artist, ending with an analysis of the mistakes and the options for solving them in the future.
Lake Baikal
Spring Baikal for two
Our task was to organize an individual trip for two, to show the most interesting places of the spring Baikal with sum limit of 5,000 dollars. Before calculating and approving the program, we called to all the hotels and transport to make sure that they were available for the right dates. There were no rooms in the hotel, snowmobiles were occupied, the biosphere reserve did not work — holidays on March 8.
Lake Baikal
The course to the North
We planned to cross Lake Baikal by SUVs on ice and make the show of this. We started to prepare for half a year — re-equipped cars, picked up the equipment and the team. During the week of travel, we covered about 1,000 km, saw the nature of Baikal, tested the SUVs and shot a film about it.
Lake Baikal
33 shamanic curses
Even before the start of the tour, problems began to arise: the engine had been torn off by the airboat, the chef had disappeared, and the car had been crashed. After the start of the event, the situation did not improve. The guests' suitcase had been opened, their glasses had been stolen, the guide's eyebrow was cut — definitely something was wrong. Despite the difficulties, in 8 days we traveled half of Lake Baikal and visited the Circum-Baikal Railway, Mamai Mountain, Sobolinie Lakes and the Islands of the Maloye More.
Lake Baikal
Conference in the taiga
For 4 days it was required to hold three presentations of new computer equipment and combine them with an entertainment program in nature. In two weeks, we went through six versions of the programs. The final included: a water walk, a banya with the best banya attendant of Russia, spa treatments, a trip to Sobolinie Lakes, fishing, a masterclass in cooking pilaf on a Finnish candle and dinner on the bank of the Angara.
Lake Baikal
Gastrotour on Baikal
For 12 days the guests changed 9 locations and tried Siberian-Baikal cuisine. A total of 112 dishes and snacks, accompanied by 32 drinks. We cooked in the taiga, arranged a culinary masterclass, got food by SUVs, on water, and by helicopter. Because of the lightning that hit the transformer, we were left without a refrigerator and electric stoves. In the intervals between changes of dishes, we went up to the mountains, floated on a mountain river, rode jet skis and steamed in the bath.
Lake Baikal
Swiss President at Lake Baikal
Our old friend called us and said that he was taking the president of the most famous in the world watch brand to Baikal. We had to plan the event in places where there is no tourist infrastructure. For four days the guests rested leisurely — they drank red wine, crossed Baikal by yacht, breathed the mountain air and tasted dishes of Siberian cuisine.

Popular adventures

In each region we've selected and combined the best in one trip: sights, equipment, hotels, food and people. These offers will help to form an idea about the possibilities of recreation in a particular place. You can make changes to any program.
