We will meet you at the airport of Gorno-Altaisk after landing and take you to the hotel on the river bank. On the way, you will have breakfast in a wooden restaurant surrounded by birches and pine trees. You will be served porridge with forest berries, cottage cheesecakes with Altai honey and jam. After that, you will stay in comfortable rooms overlooking the mountains and relax from the flight. Before dinner, you can walk along the river or ride a horse.
Lesotel is a restaurant 15 km from the airport, on the banks of the Katun River, surrounded by birches and pines. A two-story wooden building with two halls, a private area and a terrace with a view of the river and the foothills of the Altai.
In the menu there are dishes of Russian and European cuisine, cooked from local organic products: maral and roe deer meat, grayling, sturgeon and white mushrooms. Chefs cook Siberian dumplings, pancakes with red caviar and manti with duck meat. In the morning you can have breakfast with porridge, cottage cheesecakes or pancakes with Altai honey and jam.
Maryin Ostrov is an eco-hotel in the Chemal valley on the banks of the Katun River in the middle of green mountain slopes. The local air, the sample of which is stored in the “Reference Chamber” is saturated with aromas of pine needles, marshmallow, bagulnik and oregano. The resort is focused on improving and restoring peace of mind.
On the territory of the hotel there are three residential buildings, a wellness center, a restaurant, walking grounds, an outdoor swimming pool. In the exterior of residential buildings can be seen the features of an alpine chalet. The interior is made in light colors, the rooms are decorated with dark and light wood. There are eight categories of rooms available from standard to three-room apartments.
The apartments are equipped with: kitchen, fireplace room with living room and dining area, three bathrooms, as well as a separate room for 24-hour security. There is an outdoor terrace and an independent exit to the street.
Zvenyachy Kedr is a restaurant made of massive solid cedar on the territory of the Eco-Hotel Maryin Ostrov. Inside the log walls of the hall create a feeling of warmth and comfort. They are decorated with imitation of hunting trophies: wooden heads of bears, deer and wild boars. An outdoor terrace is available in warm weather.
In the menu there are traditional Altai dishes: baked or grilled maral meat, grayling and lamb. Here you can try homemade milk, sour cream and cottage cheese, honey from eco-hotel's own apiary and different varieties of tea from the Altai herbs. Also, in the menu there are dishes for children and dietary dishes.
After breakfast, you will be waited at the hotel's wellness center. Morning will start with massage and wrapping with warm essential oil. Then, you will warm in the phyto-barrel and go to the antler bath. It will have a calming effect on the nervous system and toning effect on the skin. While you are relaxing you will have herbal tea with honey and jam. Then there will be time to breathe the mountain air or to sleep. After that you will go to the steam room with the one of the best bath attendants in Russia. He uses not only fir brooms but also he can tell some bathing secrets. For dinner you will taste lamb with cowberry sauce and fresh herbal balms.
Pyat Stykhiy is a hydrothermal complex on the territory of the Eco-Hotel Maryin Ostrov. It is equipped with a swimming pool with hydro and air massage, waterfall and counterflow system. It is filled with medical-table water from its own underground reservoir. It is also used for antler baths and balneotherapy.
For rejuvenation and recovery, a spa capsule with water massage and infrared treatments is used, as well as a phyto-barrel and bioresonance therapy. For the smoothness of the skin, the complex offers wraps with herbal infusions and algae. The wellness center of the hotel offers about fifty health and wellness procedures.
Nikolaev Gennady Vladimirovich is a professional bath-attendant since 1985. He knows how to get rid of stress and treat with steam, brooms and decoctions of medical herbs. In his arsenal there are: ointments and infusions of raspberries, mint, chamomile, wild rose, wormwood and brooms of all kinds: juniper, aspen, oak and fern. As soon as you wake up, go for breakfast, you will have farm cheese, freshly cooked coffee and hot pastries. Then, you will go by prepared SUVs along the Katun River and mountain ranges. In two hours you will reach the starting point of rafting. You will be instructed, get equipment and worked out to work in a team. For a day you need to pass 25 km along the river. You will overcome barrels, boulders, whirlpools, turbulence and thresholds of the fourth category of complexity. At the finish we will arrange a picnic lunch. And for not to forget this day, you will have a video shot with the action camera.
Rafting along the Katun River is a water route that starts at the mouth of the Edigan River. After the instructions and getting the equipment, the group sits in an inflatable raft. The first obstacle is waiting for a kilometer after the start — the 1st Teldekpensky threshold. At this point the river narrows and speeds up — rafting along a narrow rocky corridor with a width of 20 to 40 m. Then, after exploring the situation, the exit to the 2nd Teldekpensky threshold. Here the flow of water is even more powerful, but the shafts, whirlpools and other obstacles can be safely bypassed. Teldekpensky thresholds of the 4th category of complexity are one of the most difficult thresholds of Katun.
After a short break, overcoming the short threshold of the 2nd category — Biyskii. On the way, passing along the left bank of the seven rocks, sticking out of the water. In autumn they are clearly visible and they are not dangerous. Just before the finish you will pass the last, Elandinsky threshold of the third category of complexity.
Before you start the engine of the sports car, the instructor will talk about the driving features and safety at the passes and serpentine road. Descents, rises, turns and panoramic views of the snow-capped mountain peaks. Your goal is to get maximum impressions from one of the most beautiful highways of the world. After three hundred kilometers you will stop, have dinner, and then transfer to a helicopter. It will take you to the shore of the lake at the foot of the highest mountain of Siberia. While you are visiting one of the glaciers, we will arrange a picnic for you. In the evening, you will fly over the valley with waterfalls and “Stone Mushrooms” to get to a cozy hotel on the shore of the largest lake in Altai.
Chuysky Tract is one of the most picturesque roads in the world. It stretches from Novosibirsk to the border with Mongolia. The road is laid along the rivers: Ursula, Katun and Chui, and almost everywhere is surrounded by mountains. Sometimes it comes very close to the water from one side and to the rocks from the other — such places are called bumps. The more southerly, the more often on the horizon will arise high mountains in snow caps.
Behind the district center of Shebalino there is the highest point of the Chuisky tract — the Seminsky Pass, where a stele is installed in honor of the 250th anniversary of Altai's accession to Russia. The second pass is Chike-Taman, with steep hills and descents. It is serpentine road in the rocks and every turn opens a view on the left behind the valley. At the top of the pass there is an observation platform with the best view.
Belukha Mountain is the highest point in Siberia. Here is the border of Russia with Kazakhstan, and is the source of the Katun River. On the slopes and in the Belukha valleys there are 169 glaciers. The mountain range is recognized as a nature monument, and at the end of the last century a natural park was opened here. In this area there are: the high mountain chapel, the Akkem Glacier, the Valley of the Seven Lakes and the Mountain Spirits Lake.
Chulyshman is the valley formed as a result of the descent of the glacier. It got its name from the river of the same name, the main flow of the Teletskoye Lake. It is interesting with its view from the pass Katu-Yaryk, rock formations “Stone Mushrooms” and the largest waterfall in Altai — Uchar. Also it attracts the rafters with the fifth category of difficulty thresholds.
You can ride along a valley to the Teletskoye Lake by SUV on a gravel road. This takes two to three days. It is more convenient for a couple of hours to see the main attractions from a helicopter.
Urochiche Actra is an eco-hotel on the shore of Teletskoye Lake. The hotel buildings are located in a small populated area. Around it there are only ancient pines, cedars and mountain range. In four buildings there are rooms of solid cedar of three categories: “standard”, “junior suite” and “suite”. Rooms with balconies and terraces overlooking the lake. On the territory of the hotel there are summer houses and barbecue area.
A small restaurant with a fireplace, designed for thirty people. Panoramic windows offer a view of Lake Teletskoe. The menu offers European cuisine, as well as Altai delicacies: fried grayling, trout steak, maral steak. In the bar card there are only soft drinks: tea, coffee and fruit drinks.
In the morning you can not rush to get out of bed, there is nowhere to hurry. All that you need to do today is to catch grayling or taimen. At the pier you will take a speedboat, by which you will cross the lake to the mouth of the Chulyshman River. You will stop and start fishing at the place where the river flows into Teletskoye Lake. The instructor will prepare the tackles and show the best places to bite. From the fish you will cook the fish soup, some you can smoke. On the way back you will visit the waterfall and spend the evening in the hotel by fireplace.
Teletskoye Lake is the largest lake in Altai. Locals call it Altyn-Kol, which translated from Altai — “golden lake”. The maximum depth of the lake is equal to the height of the Eiffel Tower, and the length is the distance from Brussels to Bruges. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In the lake, there are fourteen species of fish, of which some are interesting for sports and amateur fishing: taimen, grayling, bream, uskuch and teletsky whitefish. Because of steep shores, fishing is more convenient by spinning from shore or boat. In winter, ice fishing is common here.
There is a waterfall on the Teletskoye Lake, which can be visited during a water walk. It is called Korbu and its height is equal to the five-story house. There is a comfortable wooden path which leads to it from the shore.
